Sustainable Procurement Policy
NSL Ltd. (“NSL”) and its subsidiaries and associate companies (collectively, “NSL Group”) seek to deliver values to its stakeholders by carrying out business activities in an environmentally responsible and sustainable manner. We are committed to achieving long-term environmental, social and economic benefits by working together with our suppliers in advancing sustainable procurement practices.
NSL has created this Sustainable Procurement Policy, which sets out the standards expected of any supplier dealing with any NSL Group Company (each, a “Supplier” and collectively, “Suppliers”).
This Sustainable Procurement Policy also serves as a communication and improvement tool for suppliers, our procurement personnel and other stakeholders. We will review and update this Sustainable Procurement Policy to reflect changing circumstances and developments in sustainability management.
Our requirements:
• Compliance: Suppliers must comply with all applicable local laws and regulations in the jurisdictions where they operate, as well as relevant national requirements where our company conducts business. Suppliers are required to put in place appropriate policies, controls, and training to ensure compliance, appropriate to the scale of their operations. In addition, suppliers are encouraged to align with recognised international standards and best practices relevant to their business activities.
• Code of Conduct: Suppliers shall not oer any employee, agent, or representative of NSL Group any bribes, improper gifts, entertainment, gratification or other favours nor pay any commissions or fees or grant any rebates or other remuneration or monetary gratuity to any employee, agent, or representative of NSL Group or any NSL Group Company for the purpose or with the intention of influencing any such person(s) for any reason(s) including to obtain favour(s) or to commit acts contrary to the best interests of NSL Group or any NSL Group Company. In addition to adhering to NSL Group’s Anti-Bribery and Anti-Corruption Policy which can be accessed at https://www.nsl.com.sg/. Suppliers shall comply with all anti-corruption, anti-bribery, anti-trust and anti-money laundering laws and other laws, rules and regulations applicable to dealings with and/or performance of its services to any NSL Group Company.
• Product Quality and Safety: Each NSL Group Company will continue to work collaboratively with Suppliers to identify ways to ensure timely delivery of high-quality materials, products, and services. Suppliers are required to ensure materials, products, and services delivered to the NSL Group Company meet applicable standards, regulatory requirements, and the specifications of the NSL Group Company. Suppliers are encouraged to establish a quality assurance system to ensure they meet the requisite quality and safety standards.
• Sustainable Sourcing: Suppliers should source raw materials responsibly, avoiding illegal or unsustainable practices, and give preference to recycled and secondary materials where feasible.
• Environment: Suppliers shall comply with all applicable environmental laws, regulations and standards as well as implement an effective system to identify and eliminate potential hazards to the environment. Suppliers should wherever possible support a precautionary approach to environmental matters and undertake initiatives to promote greater environmental responsibility such as reduction of greenhouse gas and other emissions harmful to the environment, conservation of non-renewable natural resources, improving energy efficiency, responsible waste management and promotion of circular economy. Suppliers are encouraged to have their operations certified to meet internationally recognised standards for good environmental management practices, such as ISO14001.
• Labour Practices and Standards: Suppliers are required to comply with all applicable labour laws and practices, and respect the fundamental principles of the International Labour Organisation’s various conventions. Suppliers shall prohibit slavery and use of forced or child labour across the supply chain. Suppliers shall promote diversity, inclusion and equal opportunities in its operations. Suppliers must not engage in any unlawful discriminatory conduct or harassment. Suppliers shall verify that they and their upstream supply chains operate in compliance with regulations and best practices relative to human rights, working conditions, and minimum wage.
• Health and Safety: Suppliers are required to comply with all applicable laws and regulations regarding health and safety. They must establish and maintain comprehensive health and safety systems, policies, and procedures, supported with adequate resources for eective implementation. Suppliers are required to train all employees on incident prevention and to take all necessary actions should an incident occur. In addition, suppliers must provide employees with the necessary Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and ensure they are trained in its proper use to achieve eective protection. Suppliers and contractors must also ensure that their employees and sub-contractors are fully informed of, and commit to comply with, the Company‘s health and safety rules at all times when present at our sites.
• Data Privacy: Suppliers are required to protect all confidential, non-public, and personal information provided by any NSL Group Company or obtained in the course of business with NSL. Suppliers must implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to prevent unauthorised access, use, or disclosure of such information, and must comply with all applicable data protection and privacy laws and regulations.
• Monitoring and Enforcement: NSL Group reserves the right to assess suppliers’ compliance with this policy. Suppliers may be required to take corrective actions where gaps are identified. NSL Group may suspend or terminate business relationships with suppliers that commit serious or repeated breaches of this policy.
All suppliers who work with any NSL Group Company is responsible for developing awareness in their respective organisation, putting in place processes and taking actions to achieve the standards described in this Sustainable Procurement Policy. We understand that procurement performance improvement is a continuous process and recognise the contribution of our suppliers in our journey to become more sustainable.
This Policy may be amended, revised, or updated from time to time at the discretion of the NSL Group. The latest version shall supersede all previous versions
